


Introduction
The research project will be an analysis focusing on various notions that support Graffiti as an Art or related to vandalism. Graffiti are writings or scribbles that are scratched or sprayed illegitimately on a wall or a surface that is located in a public place. Graffiti is associated with street art that commenced in the 1960 and 70s in New York. The main purpose of graffiti is mainly self-expression and creativity. Various public surfaces are used for graffiti including public walls, ceilings, buildings and freight trains. It has been noted that graffiti associated artist are always striving to improve on their work thus graffiti keeps changing and progressing (Mcauliffe 2012). Graffiti can describe as art, it is a tool for people to express their life, it can be a mirror to show us who we really are a s a community.In the other hand, graffiti can be committed to damage without permission on other’s property. Throughout this project I will investigate into graffiti as art and graffiti as vandalism, and look into different types of graffiti by different artists, also gather primary and secondary research to support my analysis.
Aims & Objectives
Aim: This project aims to investigate Graffiti as Art, and Graffiti as Vandalism.
Objective: To explore and look into graffiti in different aspects, the reason behind graffiti, how graffiti is considered as art and vandalism, and the consequences it gives to the society.
Methods
Primary research: I have took various photos of graffiti in different styles, containing graffiti that seems like art and vandalism, and conducted a questionnaire to investigated what people thinks about graffiti, and their thoughts about political graffiti. These results supported my conclusion to discuss on my question topic.
Secondary research: I looked into books and resources in Nottingham Trent University library, then I have been researching on the Internet, blogs, these researches helped to give me a starting point on my research project.
